Choosing the PERFECT Social Media Platform Part 1
Today I want to discuss the secret to achieving long-term success as a creator. It’s all about choosing the perfect platform.
You won’t want to skip this, as this mindset shift fundamentally changed me as a creator.
With so many options, deciding where to invest your time and effort can be overwhelming. Focusing on one platform initially is the best way to ensure you grow as a creator. Mastering any single platform takes months of focus and education.
Step 1: Know Your Audience
First, you need to know your audience like the back of your hand. Who are they? What do they like? What platforms are they active on? Take a look at how PewDiePie has done it. He understands his audience and tailors his content to suit their interests and preferences. He started out on YouTube and has dominated the platform with his gaming and commentary videos because that’s what his audience loves.
Here are some tips to help you understand your audience
Demographics: Start by understanding the basic demographics of your audience. What age group do they belong to? Are they predominantly male or female? Where are they located? You can use tools like Google Analytics or social media analytics to gather this information.
Interests: It’s important to understand the interests of your audience. What topics do they enjoy reading or watching content about? What are their hobbies and passions? You can gather this information by engaging with your audience on social media or by conducting surveys.
Behaviours: Lastly, it’s important to understand the behaviours of your audience. What social media platforms are they currently active on? How often do they use social media? What types of content do they engage with the most? You can use social media analytics or conduct surveys to gather this information.
Step 2: Identify Your Content Format
Next up, you need to identify your content format. Different platforms are better suited for different types of content, so you need to find the one that aligns with your content format.
So, when choosing a platform, it’s important to understand the strengths and features of each one and then tailor your content to that platform and its audience. Doing this will maximize your reach and engagement on each platform and build a successful brand.
Step 3: Focus on Your Goals
Finally, it’s time to focus on your goals. What do you want to achieve through social media? Is it to build your brand? Drive traffic to your website? Monetize your content? Look at how Gary Vaynerchuk has done it. He’s used social media to build his personal brand and grow his business. He’s focused on his goals and has used platforms like Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram to achieve them.
I will create another video discussing the most popular platforms to create on and which style of creators best suits them.

The Power of Your Circle
I’ve been studying successful creators on YouTube and Tiktok, and a reoccurring theme so many have said is they have 1-4 friends who are also obsessed with creating and improving.
Audit your influences and ensure you’re in a circle focused on growth.
